Here, you will find information about histcross and its capabilities.

• Enter pieces of data, called objects (people, places, events, etc.)
• Create links between objects, called relations (these have a meaning, e.g. "is-son-of", "living-in", etc.)
• Relations and objects contain date information (year, month, day)
• Types of objects and relations can be defined without constraints by the user
• A simple inference engine helps define new relations based on old ones
• Bibliographic references can be attached to objects and relations

• Web Server (PHP enabled, e.g. Apache, lighthttpd; IIS not tested yet!)
• PHP 4 (Version 4.4.0 or greater recommended) with support for MySQL and calendar module
• MySQL 4.0
• imagemagick and limited command line access (e.g. via safe exec dir) for icon upload

Expanded search using Sphinx has additional requirements:

• Sphinx searchd up and running
• MySQL 5.0 (using UTF-8)
• PHP 5.0 (using UTF-8)

• Current Webbrowser, e.g. Firefox, Internet Explorer
• JavaScript and Cookies have to be enabled (only for people who are logged in and want to change items in the database)
